Signs Your Water Heater Might Be Failing
No Hot Water: This is usually the number one indication that something is wrong with your water heater. Even if your water is warm, but does not come out hot, this means that your water heater most likely needs repairs.
Leaks – Is there water pooling around the base of your water heater? This is an indication your water heater might be leaking. If your gas water heater is leaking make sure the pilot light on your tank is lit, and the water didn’t put the flame out, and there is no gas leaking in your home. If you notice water pooling around your water heater, contact a local water heater service in Schaumburg to come out and take a look as soon as possible.
Noises: Crack and pop sounds are usually an indication that there is break in between the heating elements in the water heater.
The color of Water: Is your water coming out of your faucets brown or have an unpleasant smell? If your water is rusty, that means that your water heater needs to be replaced. If there is a bad smell, then your water is breaking down. Sand in your water or mud in your water is an indication that there is a build up at the bottom of your tank a well.
Age: How old is your water heater? Water heaters can last about 10-15 years.
